Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional provides essential services to individuals with disabilities, promoting their independence and well-being in daily living skills, health maintenance, and personal care. This role requires a strong commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver services that align with UCP's mission, vision, and values, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.
  • Treat individuals with respect, dignity, and compassion, promoting self-determination and empowerment.
  • Implement individualized support plans, ensuring the achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Assist individuals with daily living skills, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment, collaborating with colleagues and supervisors to achieve program goals.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues, ensuring clear and respectful interactions.
  • Model a professional presence, demonstrating respect, initiative, and a positive attitude in all interactions.
  • Report incidents and concerns in a timely and professional manner, adhering to UCP's policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development, enhancing skills and knowledge to support individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record (if applicable).
  • Must meet agency licensure requirements for fingerprinting, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to complete training programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities in a private or center-based setting.
  • Developmental Disabilities Specialist Certificate.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Work Environment

The work environment includes center and classroom settings, as well as community outings and travel in company vehicles. The employee may be exposed to changing weather conditions and moderate noise levels.
