Job Summary

Georgetown University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Vice President of Planning and Capital Projects to lead the conception and implementation of capital projects across campuses and university interests. This key leadership role requires a strong understanding of project delivery, process management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement capital projects plans, ensuring alignment with university objectives and strategic goals.
  • Lead a high-performing team of project managers and support resources, providing guidance and oversight to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
  • Collaborate with senior academic and administrative leadership to support Georgetown's mission and cultivate cooperative working relationships throughout the institution.
  • Oversee the next decade of unprecedented growth in student enrollment, faculty, staff, and physical space, drawing on technical and strategic expertise to envision and develop state-of-the-art design and construction solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, building code, and environmental regulations, contributing to the overall development and management of the university's physical infrastructure.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, project management, or related field.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in management of staff, capital projects, and contract administration at an urban research university or similar.
  • High level of interpersonal skills required for daily interaction with faculty, students, and staff, GU managers, team members, and public agency officials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to set and manage priorities, create clear direction, and expectations for staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • Registration as a Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, Certified Planner, or Certified Construction Manager desired.
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to sit, walk, and stand while working and moving about a normal office environment, with occasional visits to project sites and traversal of rough terrain or construction.

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $135,000 - $264,291.85, determined by a number of factors including the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
