Description

The Treasury and Mobilization VPU is responsible for managing IFC's financial resources and ensuring a financially healthy balance sheet safeguarding IFC's triple-A credit rating. Operating globally to deliver on IFC's strategy to create markets and mobilize private capital for development, the Vice Presidency manages IFC's liquid assets, global market borrowings, derivatives transactions, and a portfolio of third-party capital. The VPU is also responsible for strengthening local-currency financing by arranging and executing local-currency and risk-management transactions for clients and raising third-party capital through innovative syndication and mobilization platforms.

The office of the Vice President provides leadership and direction across IFC's Treasury and Mobilization functions including IFC's capital markets and investments, treasury client solutions, syndicated loans and mobilization, treasury analytics, and the asset management company. The Adviser position provides a unique opportunity to see the institution from a strategic and high-level perspective and reports directly to the Vice President and Treasurer. The Adviser will be involved in all aspects of the VPU's work. The position requires maturity, diplomacy, teamwork, business acumen, judgement, communication skills and a deep commitment to IFC's mission.

There are two positions available based in Washington DC. The selected candidates will either be at GG1 or GG2 level depending on the years of relevant experience. The selected candidate will be expected to join as soon as selected.

Duties and Accountabilities:

Responsibilities for the successful applicant will include, but are not limited to:
Managing the daily workflow for the VP, together with the Senior Executive Assistant and other members of the front office, ensuring uninterrupted visibility and appropriate follow through on actions, decisions, and commitments made by the VP by working across the VPU and beyond as necessary. Ensure that the VP is adequately briefed and apprised of important issues as they arise.
Aiding the VP on all matters relating to the functioning of the VPU and the VPU's work program, including setting VPU objectives and strategy, budgeting, and workforce planning, and providing substantive input, analysis, and recommendations on issues brought to the VP's attention for information or for action.
Attending meetings with or on behalf of the VP ensuring agenda setting in advance, minute taking and appropriate follow-through on actions, decisions, and commitments including in a secretarial role to VPU leadership team meetings.
Representing the VPU as needed in ad-hoc working groups/task forces.
Participating in the VPU Senior Leadership and Leadership Teams, and nurturing relationships with VPU staff to stay abreast of relevant business and HR matters.
Working with the VPU leadership and with the HR business partner to ensure the VPU meets its diversity and inclusion targets.
Working with the IFC Corporate Secretariat on relevant corporate, policy and Board matters.
Coordinating and synthesizing inputs from VPU departments on issues that require VPU-level responses.
Preparing correspondence, memoranda, and internal and external presentations.
Assisting with the planning of VPU knowledge forums.
Working closely with the respective communication leads in managing the VP's external program and media engagements (missions, conferences, etc.).
Liaising with IFC Management Teams, the WBG MD/CFO's Office, counterparts in IBRD/IDA, and with the Advisers to the IFC and WBG management teams.
Maintaining regular contact both informally and formally with a wide range of staff, including directors and managers, to stay abreast of emerging issues requiring attention, and establishing systematic interactions with staff and follow up.
Maintaining regular contact with ED advisors to stay abreast of emerging issues requiring the VP's attention.
Coordinating with the Front Office team to ensure smooth operations of the VP's front office including scheduling and travel.
Undertaking ad hoc tasks necessary for the smooth functioning and effectiveness of the Front Office including brief preparation/coordination, and leading or managing special assignments as guided by the VP.

Selection Criteria
Master's degree in relevant field and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
A deep understanding of IFC's balance sheet, business model, key business lines, and their impact on the overall strategy, as well as how IFC Treasury & Mobilization VPU products and strategy integrate within the World Bank Group.
Experience working with IFC / World Bank Group operations in the private sector or in capital market operations or private sector mobilization would be a plus.
Commitment to the World Bank Group's and IFC's mission, strategy and values.

Demonstrated team work, people management skills, and client orientation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proven ability to produce high quality work with very short deadlines, to effectively prioritize work among multiple competing demands, and to adapt to unexpected work demands.

Proven ability to work independently, with demonstrated organizational, analytical, and logistical skills, with an eye for detail.

Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills, and a high degree of tact and discretion in dealing with internal and external clients, staff and managers at all levels, and in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Flexibility in work hours and travel, as needed, to accommodate work demands as well as time zone differences between Washington DC, London, Singapore and other offices.
