Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Support Assistant to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Medical Support Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing administrative support to our healthcare team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized administrative support to healthcare teams, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
  • Utilize advanced patient systems to support multiple clinics and care delivery models.
  • Recommend changes to existing clinic procedures based on current administrative guidelines.
  • Coordinate with patient care teams to review clinic schedules and make adjustments as necessary.
Requirements
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with a wide range of medical clinicians across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to independently set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies, and regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of the technical healthcare process, including scheduling across interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community models and patient healthcare portals.
  • Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community operational activities that affect patient flow and patient support care administrative functions.
Working Conditions

This position is primarily sedentary, with some walking, standing, twisting, turning, sitting, pushing, bending, frequent keyboard usage, and carrying of light items. Some positions may require sitting for long periods of time at a computer terminal typing data while talking on a telephone headset.
