About the Role

Catholic Charities Fort Worth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Instructor Assistant - Refugee Education. This part-time, non-paid position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week and at least one school semester remaining.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in teaching English, Literacy, and basic classroom skills to refugee students, helping them excel in the classroom.
  • Contribute to creating teaching materials and supporting the team in various administrative tasks.
  • Participate in the initial intake visit with new clients, providing necessary support.
  • Assist in contacting clients and maintaining professional relationships with school staff and volunteers.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Meet with tutors on a weekly basis to plan lessons and develop teaching strategies.
  • Travel between the office and tutoring site, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assist in teaching small or large groups of students, ranging in age and ability, and follow lesson plans provided by tutors.
  • Administer pre- and post-tests, take attendance, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate concerns about students to the team in a timely manner and engage refugee families in a culturally sensitive manner.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Currently enrolled in a college program.
  • Openness to learning about new cultures and a willingness to adapt to diverse environments.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and liability insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong belief in the mission of Catholic Charities Fort Worth and a commitment to ending poverty.
