We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a Registered Nurse II, you will be responsible for providing complex bedside nursing care to patients, working under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications, and assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with patients to support and encourage their participation in rehabilitative exercises.
- Assist with patient rehabilitative care and patient or patient-related transportation needs when necessary.
- Perform duties of Patient Care Coordinator (charge nurse) in their absence and may serve as Nurse Supervisor.
- Knowledge of Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and Texas Center for Infectious Disease (TCID) policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of principles of adult learning.
- Knowledge of current treatment for tuberculosis.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and state and federal regulations pertaining to healthcare and accreditation standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly and positively with patients and staff.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The employee must be able to lift, bend, and move approximately 25 pounds with or without assistance.
