Position Summary
The Fitness Center Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our fitness facility, ensuring a superior experience for all members while driving financial success. This role requires strong leadership skills to guide a team of professionals in delivering outstanding service and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the recruitment, training, and development of a high-performing team, including Assistant Managers, Member Service Representatives, Trainers, and Custodians.
• Cultivate a friendly and inviting environment for all members and guests, ensuring adherence to exceptional customer service standards.
• Staff Management
- Develop staff schedules to guarantee all shifts are adequately covered.
- Promote a culture of outstanding customer service at all times.
- Provide ongoing training and coaching to ensure alignment with company values and objectives.
- Manage payroll processing and address employee concerns as they arise.
- Implement progressive discipline and manage terminations when necessary.
• Engage in front desk operations to set a standard for customer interaction.
- Welcome members and guests, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated.
- Respond to phone inquiries with professionalism and assist with various questions.
- Facilitate member check-ins, tours, and sign-ups while communicating updates effectively.
- Address member requests and resolve any issues promptly.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, taking responsibility for daily cleaning tasks.
- Maintain an orderly front desk and lobby area.
- Participate in routine cleaning and upkeep of the facility.
- Identify maintenance needs and communicate them to the appropriate team.
• Oversee marketing initiatives, ensuring staff is well-informed about promotions.
• Authorize financial transactions and manage daily deposits.
• Prepare HR documentation and coordinate with Corporate HR and Payroll.
• Monitor and report on key performance metrics regularly.
• Provide support for absent team members as needed.
• Perform additional duties as required to meet club needs.
Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and a passion for fitness.
• Preferred experience of 1-3 years in a management role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quick to learn new systems.
• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
• Experience managing customer-focused teams in the fitness industry or similar fields.
• Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
• Energetic and enthusiastic management style.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements
• Frequent standing and walking.
• Regular communication in person and over the phone.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform bending, crouching, and reaching tasks daily.
• Occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals.
