Invasive Cardiac Imaging Specialist

UPMC is seeking a highly skilled Invasive Cardiac Tech Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our invasive cardiology department, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.
Responsibilities- Support other departments as directed or assigned, demonstrating a basic knowledge of equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all images are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and all charges are adequately entered for procedures performed.
- Maintain continuing education and competency requirements for position.
- Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results.
- Document patient history in electronic record as required.
- Interact with patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Work as a team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
- Maintain point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement activities for the department.
- Provide standby call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide standby call procedure/policy.
- Administer contrast under the direction of the procedure physician.
- Demonstrate competency in functioning in the first assist position.
- Practice radiation safety for patients and others in the procedure room.
- Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) certification with current credentialing maintained.
- Bachelor of Science in a healthcare-related field accepted but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as an invasive cardiac tech.
- Ability to work and support 3 specialties within invasive cardiology (cardiology, EP, PV, Hybrid, IR, or Structural Heart).
- Active participation in the accreditation process for invasive cardiology areas where applicable.
- Supports leadership with maintaining survey readiness at all times.
- Active participant in at least one hospital-based team: evidence-based practice, service line leadership workgroup, quality improvement, or team building activity.
- ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist or RCIS as a Cardiovascular Specialist.
- CPR certification required.
- ACLS certification desired upon hire, with successful completion required within the orientation period.
