About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Tax team at American Airlines as a Transaction Tax Senior Analyst. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in preparing transaction tax return filings and supporting the tax management team in compliance, review, audits, and related tax matters.

Key Responsibilities

As a Transaction Tax Senior Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual transaction tax filings, including sales/use, fuel, liquor, and property.
  • Reviewing purchase transactions to ensure accuracy of use tax accruals.
  • Working with business partners and team members to provide relevant data to property tax consultants.
  • Interfacing with personnel throughout the company and external vendors regarding taxability of transactions.
  • Researching technical issues, preparing write-ups, and communicating conclusions to management for implementation.
  • Serving as an active and valued business partner in regard to taxability matters and able to work with other business partners to meet tax department objectives.
  • Applying professional-level technical knowledge, skills, experience, and judgment to accomplish results.
  • Exercising sound judgment within broadly defined practices and procedures.
  • Carrying out assignments received in the form of objectives and working with supervisor in developing goals and action steps that will meet those objectives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience/education.
  • 2-3 years of transaction tax experience in public accounting firms and/or a Fortune 500 company.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, a CPA, Master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or MBA, and advanced knowledge of OneSource Indirect Tax, SAP, and Excel, Alteryx would be beneficial in this role.
