Job Summary: As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Caregiver, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting our consumers in their daily living activities. This includes facilitating personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access. You will work closely with our team to provide direct support and assistance to our consumers, ensuring their well-being and promoting their independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate consumers in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.
  • Provide direct support and assistance to consumers, as specified in their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs) and activity schedules.
  • Aid in mobility as needed for consumers using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  • Assist in bedroom maintenance and teach housekeeping skills and care of clothing.
  • Assist with meal service, teaching dining skills and promoting social skills and personal dignity during meals.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to company policy.
  • Be assigned as a Primary Person (P2) for one or more consumers, ensuring their well-being at all times.
  • Attend and successfully complete in-service training sessions as scheduled.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to fellow DSPs.
  • Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.
  • Assist consumers in transportation as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the Individual Support Team, giving input toward the consumer's ISP.
  • Monitor consumers' activities to ensure safety and health care practices are observed, and Universal Precaution Practices are followed.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned to fulfill the agency philosophy and the goals and objectives of the program site.
Qualifications:
  • A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Some previous experience in supporting/assisting those with disabilities is preferred.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
