Job Summary:

As a Dental Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing direct support to dentists, hygienists, and other provider personnel in the delivery of dental care and service within our dental offices. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in the examination and treatment of patients, preparing and maintaining dental instruments and equipment, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist dentists and hygienists in the examination and treatment of patients, including taking X-rays, preparing dental instruments, and maintaining patient records.
  • Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment, including sterilizing and cleaning instruments, and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment, including maintaining a clean and organized operatory, laboratory, and instrument processing areas.
  • Assist in the training of patients in techniques of oral hygiene and prevention of oral disease.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the office manager or supervisory personnel, including assisting with patient scheduling, answering phones, and performing administrative tasks.
Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of experience as a dental assistant or a graduate from an ADA-accredited dental assisting program.
  • High school diploma or general education development (GED) required.
  • Dental radiation proficiency certificate (Oregon) required within six months of hire.
  • Pit and fissure sealant certificate (Oregon) required within six months of hire.
  • Expanded function dental assistant certificate (Oregon) required within three months of hire.
  • Basic life support certification required within three months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment.

This is a full-time position working in a fast-paced dental office environment. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, communicate clearly and effectively with patients and colleagues, and maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
