Research Administration Director

TalentRise, An Aleron Company, is seeking a highly skilled Director of Research Administration to join our team at the University of Buffalo.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of professionals in efficiently handling grant proposals, financial management, compliance, and reporting processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, strong organizational abilities, and be a proven leader to drive excellence and support the institution's research initiatives effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise staff handling pre- and post-award activities for sponsored projects.
- Collect and analyze data for operational planning and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements and facilitate conflict resolution with faculty.
- Collaborate with central Sponsored Research Administration and other university units as needed.
- Manage internal grant and award programs in coordination with the Associate Dean for Research.
- Oversee staff performance, professional development, workload management, and adherence to policies and procedures with a focus on efficiency and best practices.
- Serve as a representative leader for your college/school in university-wide projects and initiatives, contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance processes, operations, and overall customer service.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
- Five years of experience in research administration, grants management, or closely related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to perform financial analysis and customized reporting; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills including the ability to understand, interpret, and apply policies and regulations and provide guidance and recommendations to others.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheets and databases in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred; experience in higher education and research settings, effectively working alongside faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, possession of a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential is highly valued.
Salary Range:
$105,000 - $125,000
