Career Transition Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Transition Specialist to join our team at Career Systems Development Corporation. As a Career Transition Specialist, you will be responsible for counseling students in all aspects of career transition readiness, job search skills, job placement, and job retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews with students entering the Career Transition Phase of our Career Development Services System.
  • Provide re-orientation and further focus on job search techniques.
  • Establish and maintain a caseload of active student files, ensuring bi-weekly or (at minimum) contact every 30 days through telephone correspondence.
  • Attend meetings that involve Career Transition student/process issues.
  • Coordinate mock interview sessions and assist in the coordination of job fairs and career days.
  • Maintain linkages with military services, One Stop, and other external resources, securing and posting job leads, setting up job interviews, and arranging transportation assistance and other support services.
  • Ensure that all necessary licenses, certificates, transcripts, and/or any pertinent document that will aid in job search are completed/obtained preferably prior to students' exit.
  • Identify support services needed for relocation, make referrals to support services agencies, and develop and maintain a resource center for support services.
  • Initiate and maintain contact and cooperation with remote Career Transition Specialist for transition purposes.
  • Serve as chairperson of the student's Career Assessment Panel and submit appropriate reports.
  • Participate in individual or group counseling services in coordination with Social Development Department and Mental Health Consultant, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field; or Associates Degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field and two years related experience.
  • Minimum plus previous Job Corps experience.
