Dean of Social Welfare Position

The University of California, Berkeley seeks a visionary leader to serve as the next Dean of Berkeley Social Welfare. This esteemed position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of social welfare and make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities.

About the Position

The Dean of Berkeley Social Welfare will be responsible for leading the school's mission to counter systems that perpetuate poverty and social disadvantage. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of research and praxis, experience in building internal partnerships and external collaborative coalitions, and a proven track record of advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the school's mission to counter systems that perpetuate poverty and social disadvantage
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision and plan to advance the school's influence and impact
  • Build internal partnerships and external collaborative coalitions to drive social change
  • Advocate for the unique needs of the school and ensure support for all faculty, students, and staff
  • Re-energize philanthropic efforts and secure resources to support the school's mission
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree or equivalent international degree
  • Proven track record of advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice
  • Experience in building internal partnerships and external collaborative coalitions
  • Strong understanding of research and praxis
