Position Overview:
The Emergency Department Registration Coordinator is responsible for executing all outpatient and inpatient registration tasks, verifying insurance, and collecting payments for Monash University Medical Center while ensuring outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a courteous and compassionate demeanor towards patients and visitors.
- Communicate effectively to enhance patient flow and ensure excellence in customer relations.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and requirements while facilitating access to healthcare services.

Registration Duties:
- Conduct thorough and precise registration and admission processes to optimize reimbursement and provide timely patient information to healthcare providers.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in customer service is essential.
- Recent experience (within the last two years) in a hospital or medical office setting, focusing on one of the following roles: Registration Specialist, Billing/Collection Specialist, or Check-in/Out Clerk.

Skills Required:
- Proficient in operating a computer in a Windows environment, utilizing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to generate and manage reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work independently and follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Develop and maintain professional, service-oriented relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Provide exceptional customer service when addressing inquiries from staff, patients, and the public.
- Capable of handling confrontational situations and maintaining high standards of customer service under pressure.
- Proficient in data analysis and basic mathematical calculations.
