The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Kansas Medical Center is actively seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible physiatrist for a full-time faculty role, focusing on Neurologic Rehabilitation, including Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, or Stroke. Candidates will be appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor (tenure or non-tenure track) depending on their qualifications and experience. All faculty members are expected to engage actively in our integrated residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Research and Clinical Responsibilities:
Research in both clinical and basic science is highly encouraged and supported, with laboratory facilities readily available.

Essential Qualifications:

Educational Background:
  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Professional Experience:
  • Demonstrated interest in the medical management of rehabilitation for patients with neurologic injuries, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, and/or stroke, along with procedural expertise in spasticity management. Access to electrodiagnostic procedures is provided.
  • Strong clinical skills coupled with a passion for education and research.
Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Experience: Fellowship training in Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, or Spasticity is advantageous but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • All faculty members are required to actively participate in our integrated residency program in PM&R.
  • Conduct specialty clinics in designated locations.
  • Oversee inpatient rehabilitation unit services, inpatient consultations, along with teaching and scholarly activities.
  • Collaborate with rehabilitation services and other relevant departments.
  • Deliver lectures to PM&R residents and students. Attend scheduled Grand Rounds.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chair.
