Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for laboratory specimen processing, test performance, and test result reporting in the clinical departments of the laboratory. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory protocols and procedures, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory specimen processing, test performance, and test result reporting in the clinical departments of the laboratory.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory results and test procedures.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of laboratory protocols and procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment:

The work of this position is performed inside, exposing the employee to indoor environmental conditions, protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The employee may be exposed to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common in a healthcare environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; push, pull, and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop, and stretch. The employee will need a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting of patients, and should have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and medical equipment. Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports are required; specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform essential functions of this position in relation to the physical demands detailed above.
