Operations Supervisor Job Description

Hampton Products is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Supervisor to join our team. As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and directing the activities of employees in the assigned area, ensuring the team achieves its goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Reinforce Safety as the number one priority within the team, perform daily safety walks, lead daily safety conversations, report incidents, and lead safety investigations.
  • Lead by example and promote company values on a daily basis in all aspects of the job, including conflict resolution and teamwork solutions to provide a harmonious work environment.
  • Lead the organization of priorities, methods, and work assignments for the department. Oversee and audit the team to ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate fashion, including adjusting for unique customer requirements.
  • Lead team cross-training efforts to ensure flexibility to meet workload demands.
  • Provide clarification of goals and constant performance feedback to the assigned team, aligned to the internal performance evaluation process.
  • Keep attendance and timesheet information accurate and current on the ADP system for all department employees, according to the attendance policy.
  • Provide input to the department manager and HR regarding staffing requirements based on current and future workload forecasts.
  • Work with the department manager to develop and implement strategies to achieve department goals for Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, and Inventory.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and report daily, weekly, and monthly department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ensuring compliance with established goals. Recommend actions based on results and opportunities.
  • Track relevant department process information to help identify problems and opportunities.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations to resolve issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to ensure achievement of department goals and productivity.
  • Work with other departments to test and implement process changes for new products or customer requirements.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are discussed, analyzed, and kept updated.
  • Work as one team with other Operations Supervisors on large-volume customer orders, which sometimes requires unique processes to successfully accomplish the task.
  • Suggest and create team-building strategies with HR support.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or one year certificate from college or technical school; and 2 to 3 years of distribution supervision-related increasing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • No less than 1 to 2 years of experience leading others successfully.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification, preferred.
  • Project Management experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to train and share expertise with others.
