Controller Job Description

Thompson Law Injury Lawyers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee all finance, accounting, and reporting operations of the firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a management role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit activity and analyze financial data to present accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting and prepare reliable current and forecasting reports.
  • Plan, implement, and manage the firm's overall financial and tax strategy.
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the firm's liabilities and investments.
  • Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
  • Continually suggest ideas for improvement and process optimization.
  • Plan and manage all audit and internal control operations.
  • Oversee employee benefit plans, with emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge or prior experience in legal preferred but not required.
  • Possess knowledge of all aspects of accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in finance and business is required.
  • Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels.
