Position Summary

The Lead Clinical Technology Specialist (also referred to as a coordinator or senior technologist) independently conducts laboratory tests and processes patient samples or products utilizing advanced analytical instruments. This role includes training team members, leading projects, and supporting overall laboratory operations.

Each Lead Clinical Technology Specialist is accountable for the daily technical management of their designated area or bench.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute all primary duties of a Clinical Technologist.
  • Facilitate orientation, training, and competency evaluations for new laboratory personnel.
  • Initiate or oversee projects within the laboratory.
  • Manage quality control troubleshooting, setup, and maintenance in the assigned area.
  • Oversee instrument operations, including maintenance, troubleshooting, supply management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to CAP requirements related to the assigned area.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance laboratory efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related scientific field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of laboratory experience, including at least 1 year in a training or leadership role.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or equivalent, with ongoing education maintenance required within 6 months of hire.
  • Proficient in training students and new staff, with strong interpretative skills regarding laboratory regulations.
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite and capable of presenting content to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management, conflict resolution, and complex problem-solving.

Preferred:
  • Certification as a CAP Inspector Team Member.
