Job Title: Transmission Planning Engineer

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Power Delivery department, you will be responsible for planning and implementing transmission projects to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of our transmission system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement transmission plans to meet customer needs and ensure compliance with NERC/WECC Reliability Standards
  • Design and develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments for transmission projects
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians in the development of transmission plans and projects
  • Collaborate with neighboring utilities on planning studies for interconnected transmission and generation facilities
  • Prepare annual screening studies for NERC compliance and perform main grid power flow and stability studies
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission modeling, transmission system engineering, and/or transmission system planning
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member and maintain project timelines and budgets
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations, and NERC and WECC reliability standards
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations and maintain focus and calm
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Power Option (particularly Power System Analysis) certification
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
