Scientific Software Engineer with AI Concentration

The Johns Hopkins University is seeking a highly skilled Scientific Software Engineer with AI Concentration to join its cutting-edge research software engineering team. This role will focus on developing innovative AI solutions for various projects, collaborating with software developers, data scientists, clinicians, and subject matter experts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build AI solutions for CDEM projects, utilizing XGBoost, random forest, and deep neural network libraries.
  • Work with clinicians and data scientists to analyze large patient-level data sets and develop software pipelines for real-time data processing.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand interface and backend server needs, envisioning solutions and developing prototypes.

Requirements:

  • Strong scientific literacy and ability to adapt to new scientific domains and problems.
  • 2+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on building robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Experience in developing machine learning models, preferably in the healthcare or biomedical domain.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language and relevant libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and ensemble methods.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and containerization technologies for deploying and scaling machine learning models.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in the above areas.
  • Experience designing and developing advanced scientific data visualizations.
  • Familiarity with clinical decision support systems and healthcare data standards.

Starting Salary Range: $34.90 - $61.05 HRLY ($47,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
