Job Title: Civil Engineer II

Join the City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) as a Civil Engineer II and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative solutions for the city's water infrastructure.

Job Summary:

The Civil Engineer II will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the delivery of various projects and assignments related to the wastewater collections facilities and linear assets. This includes managing multiple assignments of moderate to high technical complexity, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate the oversight of the design and construction of various projects related to wastewater collections facilities and linear assets.
  • Manage multiple assignments of moderate to high technical complexity, including the coordination of multiple stakeholders and the development of project schedules and reports.
  • Prepare and negotiate contracts with vendors and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight to subordinates, including the approval of time and leave and the evaluation of staff members.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the wastewater collections facilities and linear assets.
Requirements:
  • Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
  • A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License.
  • A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required.
