About the Role

As a Family Support Specialist with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable populations, particularly Unaccompanied Children (UC). Your primary focus will be on conducting home study assessments, providing post-placement services, and comprehensive case management.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in Social Work or a related field, along with at least two years of experience in child welfare, child placements, family preservation, and social service provision. Fluency in Spanish is required, with proficiency in additional languages being an asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Home Study Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments to ensure safe and suitable placement environments for UC.
  • Post-Placement Services: Provide culturally sensitive support to UC and their sponsors, addressing crisis situations as needed.
  • Caseload Management: Maintain a minimum of 25 PRS cases, ensuring timely interventions and progress monitoring.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Build relationships with local resources, stakeholders, and headquarters staff to facilitate access to essential services.

As a remote position based in North Carolina, you will require up to 50% state travel. A $3,000 hiring bonus is offered, with a starting salary of $30.90 hourly. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license, insurance, and a clean driving record.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in child welfare, child placements, family preservation, and social service provision.
  • Fluency in Spanish; proficiency in additional languages a plus.
  • Dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people.
  • Possession of CPR and basic first aid certification.

This role requires excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.
