The Opportunity

USAA is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Data Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will work closely with data scientists to design and develop machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions. Your expertise in data engineering, machine learning, and software development will enable you to implement and optimize models to deliver critical business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the full life cycle of data engineering, including analysis, solution design, data pipeline engineering, testing, deployment, scheduling, and production support.
  • Assist in the implementation of technical solutions for data reporting and analytic systems.
  • Design and write test scripts to verify data integrity and application of functionality.
  • Deploy data pipeline code with assistance from senior team members.
  • Participate in design and code review sessions.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily standup, iteration planning, backlog grooming, and retrospective sessions.
  • Develop intermediate familiarity of data management best practices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of business products and processes.
  • Assist senior team members in breaking down business features into technical stories and approaches.
  • Actively learn about new and emerging technologies in the data engineering space.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience.
  • 2 years of data engineering, data analysis, or software development experience implementing data solutions.
  • Working experience in SQL and relational databases.
  • Basic understanding of Agile methodology practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working experience in cloud technologies and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MLOps and knowledge around deploying models in production and ensuring their reliability.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with DBT.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Snowpark.
  • Experience with Kafka and APIs.
  • Experience with Spring Batch.
