Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist will provide speech and language therapy services to students in a school-based setting. This includes conducting evaluations, assessments, and developing individualized education programs (IEPs) to address students' communication needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide speech and language therapy services to students in a classroom-based setting, working with classroom staff to develop effective communication skills.
  • Develop and implement individualized speech and language therapy plans, including small-group and individual services, to target goal-specific skills identified in IEPs.
  • Participate in data review, IEP meetings, and other team meetings to identify skill deficits, recommend assessment needs, and consult with the IEP team.
  • Conduct evaluations, including trials for communicative devices, social communication needs, and formal and informal assessments, to identify speech/language needs.
  • Assist with the use of augmentative and alternative communicative devices (AAC) through trials, programming devices, and training students, staff, and families on their use.
  • Provide materials, training, and staff in-service regarding communication needs of the student population.
  • Complete all documentation and share recommendations related to IEP development, progress monitoring, and data collection, as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations and sending-district's policy and funding requirements.
Requirements
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in Speech Instruction or Speech Communication.
  • Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license.
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certification (CCC).
  • Experience working with both verbal and nonverbal students (ages 3-21 years) in Autism Support, Emotional Support, and Life Skills Support programs.
  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, and equipment used in individual and group treatment of a wide variety of speech/language disorders.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education and other professional growth activities.
