Medical Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at LabCorp in Tualatin, OR. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform automated and manual testing, instrument maintenance, and troubleshoot instrument issues.
  • Work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, and report accurate and timely test results.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary, and assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology.
  • 1 year of previous experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Must be ASCP certified as a Medical Technologist or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • High level of attention to detail, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
