This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for permanent placement. The position is located in Tualatin, OR, and the schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, with a projected duration of 6 months or more.
Job SummaryThe primary function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
Responsibilities- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection to patients.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of experience.
