The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator/Programmer to join our team.
Job Summary:We are looking for a talented individual to design, implement, and maintain our database systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in database administration, programming, and problem-solving.
Responsibilities:- Install and configure databases with license compliance in coordination with vendors and agency partners.
- Perform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels.
- Manage the database's storage structures.
- Manage users and security.
- Manage schema objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and procedures using PL/SQL and SSMS.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data.
- Ensure code efficiency, maintainability, and security.
- Making database backups and performing recovery when necessary.
- Proactively monitoring the database's health and taking preventive or corrective action as required.
- Responsible for database performance tuning.
- Responsible for database troubleshooting.
- Coordinating with appropriate teams to ensure operational effectiveness of databases and apply database, OS, and security patches.
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or high school diploma and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Must have at least three years' experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) on 10g, 11g, 12c, or 19c with strong knowledge of Oracle Data Guard or RMAN backup.
- Experience with System administration or Microsoft SQL database installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Azure or/and AWS is a plus.
- Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent technical documentation writing skills.
- Candidate should possess analytical and problem-solving skills, a sense of responsibility, and an ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
