Position Summary
The Production Operations Lead is tasked with overseeing designated production personnel, executing administrative duties, and ensuring effective communication related to the operations of a production shift.
This role encompasses responsibility for the shift's performance in areas such as safety, product quality, production efficiency, scheduling within the assigned sector, workforce management, attendance oversight, equipment upkeep, cleanliness, cost management, employee relations, and the effective dissemination of pertinent information regarding departmental and shift performance, all aimed at achieving plant objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Instructs team members on safe operational practices and workplace behavior, holding them accountable for compliance. Identifies potential safety risks and implements necessary measures to mitigate or eliminate them. Prepares machinery for safe maintenance and authorizes safety work permits. In emergency situations, directs subordinates in control efforts and coordinates evacuations for their safety.
- Guides employees to adhere to all operational guidelines and standards. Evaluates output quality and takes necessary actions, including process shutdowns, to prevent or limit the production of substandard materials. Conducts investigations to identify causes of quality issues.
- Ensures that team members meet production standards, adhere to machine cycle times, and maintain metrics that support optimal Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Aims to achieve production targets by appropriately assigning personnel and determining the effective use of equipment and processes. Organizes the flow of packaging materials, raw inputs, and finished goods. Monitors progress throughout the shift and makes necessary adjustments.
- Ensures compliance with established cost standards regarding materials, supplies, utilities, labor, and equipment. Directs efficient use of resources and ensures adherence to operational instructions. Contributes to initiatives aimed at reducing plant costs.
- Facilitates effective communication across all organizational levels.
- Responsible for the daily oversight and updating of time and attendance records, including scheduling and absenteeism management.
- Coordinates maintenance and repair activities for production line equipment.
- Provides feedback to the Operations Manager regarding employee performance.
- Generates daily reports on production and inventory.
- Regular attendance is required to fulfill essential job functions as outlined.
Performs additional tasks as directed by management.
