Description

The Director of Career & Technical Programs is entrusted with the educational advancement of students and the professional development of staff within the division. In collaboration with faculty and staff, and adhering to established responsibilities, the Director possesses the administrative authority to oversee decisions pertinent to the division: planning, organizing, administering, developing, and evaluating programs; providing leadership for faculty and staff to deliver exceptional educational services for college students; and supervising and assessing the performance of assigned personnel.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage diverse areas including Business, Computer Information Systems, Barbering, Cosmetology, Construction Trades, Human Services, Manufacturing, Early Childhood Education, and Legal Studies.
  • Oversee strategic planning initiatives within Career & Technical Education.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders and educational institutions to identify needs for new courses and programs.
  • Support the implementation of grants related to Career & Technical programs.
  • Align program policies with institutional and external regulatory standards.
  • Ensure accountability measures for programs.
  • Work with faculty on curriculum development, revisions, outcomes assessment, and retention strategies to enhance student success.
  • Effectively manage the budget in partnership with department heads and program coordinators.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop and schedule academic offerings.
  • Address student concerns and issues.
  • Manage the faculty tenure process and evaluations according to contractual guidelines.
  • Coordinate course transferability and articulation agreements.
  • Engage in district, state, and community committees and outreach efforts.
  • Assist in organizing annual advisory board meetings.
  • Partner with local high schools for dual credit and enrollment opportunities; facilitate articulation meetings and open houses.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Typical Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience at the college level.
  • Experience in grant writing and implementation.
  • Familiarity with accreditation processes.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Prior experience in college-level teaching.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian and D2L Brightspace.
Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time administrative role requiring 40 hours per week. The salary is $80,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package including a Flexible Health Benefit and paid time off.
