Job Purpose

The Privacy Assistant Manager role is pivotal in executing the American Honda Finance Corporation (AHFC) Data Privacy and Information Security Program (DAPIS). This risk-oriented Privacy-by-Design initiative aims to standardize operational processes, procedures, and internal controls to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations concerning the management and security of sensitive and non-public personal consumer information. The ultimate goal of this position is to protect consumer privacy effectively.



Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Advocate for Privacy-by-Design principles within AHFC, ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy laws and regulations, as well as developing privacy policies and procedures.
  • Formulate and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures, including contributions to associate training programs.
  • Track privacy legislation and establish monitoring processes to evaluate AHFC's compliance status.
  • Collaborate with Vendor Management to ensure third-party privacy compliance and address consumer complaints.
  • Lead the data mapping and inventory of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) projects while providing guidance on regulatory requirements.



Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A BA/BS degree is required; having AIPP CIPM, CIPP, or other privacy certifications is advantageous.
  • Over 8 years of experience in privacy within the business or financial services sector, particularly with regulatory, legal, or compliance experience related to consumer products/services, data protection standards, and program management.
  • The ability to coordinate and collaborate with IT, project managers, and staff to fulfill privacy-related requirements.
  • A commitment to advancing privacy controls within AHFC and across company initiatives.
  • Experience participating in audits and examinations, analyzing documentation and materials during privacy audits.



Additional Skills

  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with tools like Visio and Access.



Position Factors

  • Workstyle: Hybrid (3 days in the office required).
  • Travel: 5%.
  • Manager car eligibility (includes coverage for insurance and maintenance).
