We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Madigan Army Medical Center's Medical/Surgical Unit.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, gathering patient history and medical information, administering treatments and medications, and advocating for patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Gather patient history, family medical information, and advanced directives
- Record symptoms, reactions, and progress; assist physicians during treatments; administer medication and treatments
- Oversee data interpretation by LVNs and unlicensed personnel; advocate for patients
- Assess patients, develop care plans, instruct patients and families, communicate with charge nurses and physicians, verify orders, administer medications, and manage nursing care plans
- Ensure accurate documentation of care and progress
- Perform diverse patient care tasks, including range of motion exercises, hygiene, lifting, turning, feeding, and more
- Manage complex procedures with high infection risk and life support equipment involvement
- Oversee tissue/skin bank and blood bank procedures
- Collaborate on care plans with healthcare team; respond to breaches of standard procedures and participate in consultative research projects
- Attend patient care meetings, conferences, and discharge planning sessions; maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
- Respond effectively in emergencies and initiate life-saving measures
- Assess and address potential crises; administer emergency drugs, operate defibrillators and other equipment
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care conferences and discharge planning
- Current, full, active, and unrestrictive license to practice as a Registered Nurse
- 1+ year experience working in the Medical & Surgical Unit as a Registered Nurse in the last 3 years
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Nursing from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated state accrediting agency
- Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS issued by the American Red Cross
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Red Cross
