Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Central Care Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. This is a full-time, contract position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for providing technical support to surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures. This includes preparing and maintaining the operating room, setting up and organizing surgical equipment and supplies, and assisting with patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room, including setting up and organizing surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with patient care, including preparing patients for surgery and assisting with post-operative care.
  • Provide technical support to surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain aseptic procedures during preparation for and assistance with surgical procedures.
  • Perform sharp counts, measure blood and fluid loss, and perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts under direct observation of a registered nurse.
  • Clean and maintain the operating room, including removing and disposing of soiled and/or contaminated materials, changing linen, washing instruments, and assembling them for sterilization.
Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make instantaneous decisions in emergency situations.

Work Schedule:

Normal duty hours for the position shall be Monday through Friday. The health care workers shall record the time worked and report time in accordance with MTF policy. Federal Holidays are considered work days.

Not included in, or billable as work hours are lunch/break periods, vacation/sick leave (80 hours) are continuing medical education (CME) training attendance (up to 40 hours per year per FTE).

All leave/absences during normal work hours will be coordinated with and approved by the MTF Activity/Department head/supervisor.
