Surgical Technologist Job Description

Central Care Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. This is a full-time, contract position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Surgical Technologist who is experienced in setting up surgical trays, preparing patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sterile techniques and be able to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Perform sterile techniques, including setting up surgical trays and preparing patients for surgery
  • Assist with post-operative dressings and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
  • Ensure surgical packs are cleaned and packed for sterilization after every procedure
  • Participate in cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment
  • Report events to the registered nurse or officer in charge and document notification
  • Assist with application of dressings and perform sharp counts, measures blood and fluid loss
  • Clean operating room after surgery and remove and dispose of soiled and/or contaminated materials
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make instantaneous decisions in emergency situations

Work Schedule

Normal duty hours for the position shall be Monday thru Friday. The health care worker shall record the time worked and report time in accordance with MTF policy. Federal Holidays are considered work days.

Not included in, or billable as work hours are lunch/break periods, vacation/sick leave (80 hours) are continuing medical education (CME) training attendance (up to 40 hours per year per FTE).

All leave/absences during normal work hours will be coordinated with and approved by the MTF Activity/Department head/supervisor.
