Position Overview:
The Assistant Professor role signifies a respected position within the academic faculty, where you will serve as a mentor to both colleagues and students. This appointment reflects proven teaching abilities, a commitment to professional service, and a strong potential for scholarly contributions.
As a faculty member with a Master's degree, you will be responsible for developing, designing, and delivering educational content in the Physician Assistant curriculum, engaging in student advising and mentorship, and participating in the academic responsibilities of teaching, service, scholarship, and research. You will also review and assist in updating departmental policies and procedures, and identify suitable community partnerships for student learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction in both the theoretical and practical components of the Master's of Science in Physician Assistant Studies curriculum.
- Engage in scholarly activities and community service as outlined by university and departmental guidelines.
- Contribute to the creation and execution of innovative instructional experiences.
- Participate in ongoing program evaluation and adhere to the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) Standards.
- Establish personalized learning objectives for students.
- Assist in recruiting qualified candidates for the program.
- Develop the necessary competencies for successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or a related field.
- At least three years of clinical experience.
- One peer-reviewed publication as an instructor, with acceptable formats including journal articles, books, or book chapters recognized by national academic or professional organizations.
- Experience supervising adjunct faculty, graduate teaching assistants, or student workers is preferred.
Licensure and Certification:
- Eligibility for Florida state licensure as a physician assistant is required.
- Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is preferred.
