Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager will oversee the daily functions of the retail establishment, ensuring the adherence to company policies, procedures, and initiatives aimed at achieving sales and profitability targets while effectively managing expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Management:
- Support the Store Manager in enhancing sales performance by fostering a sales-driven atmosphere through the execution of corporate sales strategies.
- Assist in monitoring and controlling expenses, including sales performance, gross profit, markdowns, and payroll.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to optimize gross margin through effective inventory management and promotional activities.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure that team members consistently deliver outstanding customer service.
- Oversee the store's recovery process to maintain company standards.
- Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly and courteously in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Support the training of staff on customer service principles and current promotions.
Merchandising and Store Presentation:
- In the absence of the Store Manager, guide associates in maintaining the sales floor's appearance and ensuring compliance with merchandising standards.
- Supervise the implementation of visual merchandising programs to create an appealing shopping environment.
- Ensure the store's exterior and displays meet company presentation standards.
Staff Development:
- Assist the Store Manager in building a knowledgeable team focused on sales and customer service.
- Help maintain optimal staffing levels through effective recruitment and hiring practices.
- Support the onboarding and training of new associates to ensure consistency in service delivery.
Leadership and Communication:
- Effectively communicate store policies and objectives to all team members.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Encourage team members to share innovative ideas and address concerns through open communication.
Loss Prevention and Safety:
- Assist the Store Manager in maintaining accurate records related to cash handling and sales transactions.
- Support adherence to loss prevention protocols to safeguard company assets.
- Help maintain a safe environment for both employees and customers.
Qualifications:
2-3 years of recent retail and supervisory experience is required. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with customers and team members. Candidates should possess the ability to lead, make informed decisions, and manage various operational tasks efficiently.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting. Frequent standing, walking, and reaching are necessary for stocking and managing inventory.
