Key Responsibilities:


As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you play a crucial role in the rehabilitation process, collaborating closely with a licensed physical therapist to assist patients in regaining mobility, alleviating discomfort, and restoring functionality after injury, illness, or surgical procedures.

Below is a summary of the primary duties of a Physical Therapist Assistant:

Implementation of Patient Care:

Support the execution of treatment plans established by the physical therapist, tailored to meet the specific rehabilitation objectives and functional requirements of patients.


Guidance in Therapeutic Exercises:
Facilitate patients in performing prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities aimed at improving their physical capabilities and encouraging recovery.

Physical Therapist Assistants instruct patients on correct exercise methods, track their progress, and provide constructive feedback to ensure safe and effective participation.


Application of Modalities and Physical Agents:

Ensure the appropriate use of various treatment modalities, monitor patient reactions, and modify treatment parameters as needed to enhance therapeutic results.


Education for Patients and Families:

Provide education to patients and their families regarding injury prevention techniques, proper body mechanics, and strategies for managing pain and discomfort.


Monitoring Progress and Reporting:
Observe patients' responses to treatment interventions, documenting their progress and any alterations in functional status or treatment tolerance.

Physical Therapist Assistants maintain regular communication with the supervising physical therapist, offering updates on patient progress and collaborating on necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.


Qualifications:
Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Current licensure/certification in the state of practice
