Reporting Structure: The Physical Therapist will report directly to the manager and will not have any direct reports. Oversight for physical therapist assistants may be provided, and the therapist may supervise students completing observation or clinical affiliation hours.
Position Overview: The Physical Therapist is responsible for developing and implementing tailored physical therapy treatment programs aimed at rehabilitating patients who are ill, injured, or physically disabled. The goal is to enhance their functional abilities and independence. The therapist will guide patient participation in designated activities to restore, reinforce, and improve performance, while facilitating the acquisition of essential skills for adaptation and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, demonstrating proficiency in selecting, administering, and interpreting both standardized and non-standardized assessments based on age-specific criteria.
- Formulate and execute individualized physical therapy treatment plans in accordance with valid prescriptions, considering the patient's age and educational background, while accurately assessing their condition and progress towards established goals.
- Maintain precise patient care records following departmental protocols, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with safety standards.
- Uphold a clean and safe working environment, adhering to hospital and departmental safety regulations.
- Exhibit professionalism, engage in ongoing education, and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Advocate for and educate patients across all age groups, including those with physical, emotional, language, and cognitive challenges.
- Utilize equipment correctly, adhering to specific age-related criteria such as height, weight, and health status.
- Meet productivity standards set by the department.
- Assist in supervising assistants, students, rehabilitation aides, and volunteers as needed.
- Contribute to program development by identifying opportunities for performance improvement and implementing necessary plans.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A Master's Degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.
Licensure: Must be licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Ohio and/or Michigan.
Certification: CPR certification in accordance with hospital policy is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications: Additional education, skills, and experience may be beneficial.
Working Conditions: Personal protective equipment and physical demands will be outlined as necessary.
