About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Performance Engineer to join our Platform Architecture group at Apple. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in connecting our hardware and software into one unified system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and build experiences targeted for creatives on Macs, defining key metrics to analyze hardware and software performance.
  • Measure system analytics such as performance, power, thermal, and acoustic data to analyze hardware and software behavior and recommend the best user experiences.
  • Uncover potential optimization across all aspects of hardware, such as CPU, GPU, neural engine, media engine, memory, and storage, as well as software, including OS, drivers, and applications.
  • Collaborate with engineering groups to pursue opportunities to enhance and improve customer experiences on Mac for creatives.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience in system performance and power profiling tools or visual effects, animation, immersive experience design, or similar creative field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of operating system fundamentals and system performance analysis & debug.
  • Knowledge in two or more established creative software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally from silicon to SW teams.
  • Understanding of machine learning/AI algorithms on creative workflows (e.g., GAN, GPT).
  • Scripting skills such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Compensation and Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
