Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate School Support Professional to join our team. As a School Support Professional, you will work closely with students who require instructional, personal care, and/or behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department and/or supervising designee.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Support: Assist students in achieving IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, while managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
- Facilitate Learning Activities: Implement teacher-directed learning activities, such as lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
- Support General Education Classes: Accompany students during general education classes and provide support as needed.
- Communication: Communicate pertinent information to teachers and maintain confidentiality regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
- Personal Care and Hygiene: Assist students with activities of daily living, such as toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
- Behavior Management: Assist in behavior management techniques, as directed by the teacher and/or other school professionals.
- Clerical Support: Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Certified Nursing Assistant: Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, as required by state or contract.
- Professional Standards: Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Amergis Competency Program: Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program, as applicable.
- CPR and Health Certificate: Current CPR certification and health certificate, as required by contract or state regulation.
- Confidentiality and HIPAA: Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Communication and Computer Skills: Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language, as well as computer skills.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
