Overview

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for performing duties related to the receipt, intake, scanning, indexing, quality control, retrieval, delivery, and transfer of patient health and administrative information using an electronic medical records (EMR) system and/or release of information (ROI) functions. Work is performed in compliance with established policies, procedures, and Federal and State regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). An incumbent follows proper channels of communication in handling daily and routine problems and recognizing issues that need escalation to management.

Requirements
  • One year of work experience in healthcare, release of information, or an office setting.
  • Completion of a medical record technology program or medical terminology and/or basic computer application courses is preferred.
