Overview:

EPITEC is seeking a dedicated and innovative Functional Calibration Development Engineer to join our Test Automation and Calibration Development team. In this role, you will be tasked with planning, executing, and analyzing subsystem-level tests within a state-of-the-art testing environment. Your expertise will contribute to calibration development, data analysis, and the transition of lab-based activities to mathematical models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on testing progress and challenges.
  • Design and implement first-time capable tests for calibration and hardware development.
  • Lead the diagnosis and resolution of issues encountered during setup and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with Product Development Teams and Technical Experts to enhance existing tests and create new testing methodologies, including understanding related ECU algorithms and calibration processes.
  • Develop and utilize post-processing tools to ensure data quality and assess the utility of data in generating final calibration reports.
  • Create and standardize work processes and procedures on a global scale.
  • Engage with facilities, TRBs, calibration teams, and other stakeholders to enhance process and testing efficiency.
  • Support the transition of additional tasks from Road and Lab to math-based models and data analysis.
  • Mentor and train new engineers to foster their development.

Education and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics is required.

Minimum Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in automotive engineering with a focus on engine knowledge.
  • Familiarity with AVL PUMA/IndiCom/CAMEO and ETAS INCA software.
  • Proven track record of achieving results.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others, establishing strong peer relationships.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.
  • Proficient in computer systems and data acquisition technologies.
  • Experience in data analysis to enhance testing or model outcomes.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with propulsion system calibration in both test and vehicle environments.
  • 2-5 years of experience in engine testing, calibration, or hardware development.
  • Knowledge of engine dynamometer setup and testing.
  • Familiarity with government test cycles (e.g., FTP, US06, WLTP, RDE).

Work Environment:

This position is based in a laboratory testing facility, with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) required on-site.

Work Schedule:

During the initial training period, all positions will follow a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Following training, positions will transition to a third shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 10 PM to 7 AM. Occasional weekend support may be required remotely.
