Job Title: Paramedic Clinical Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paramedic Clinical Educator to join our team at UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ. As a Clinical Educator, you will play a critical role in the supervision and evaluation of clinical lab and/or patient care experiences for our students.

About the Position:

This is a part-time position, not to exceed 25 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in paramedicine and experience in clinical instruction.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate supervision and provide regular assessments of students' progress in achieving acceptable program requirements.
  • Attend clinical sessions as needed.
  • Meet with assigned students at least twice per month during clinical rotations.
  • Review documentation completed by preceptors and verify appropriate entry into the data tracking tool.
  • Ensure student compliance with required timelines.
  • Serve as liaison with Hospital-based Clinical Educators to ensure that each hospital rotation site receives an annual curriculum or documentation updates as appropriate.
  • Assist Program Director with documentation of these meetings.
  • Assist program director in maintaining current clinical affiliation agreements with sponsor hospitals/Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs).
  • Advise Program Director of absences in a timely manner.
  • Attend scheduled program staff meetings.
  • Represent the College and Program appropriately to the community.
  • Plan in advance to ensure availability of clinical opportunities essential for teaching of assigned skills.
  • Adhere to professional standards of practice.
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Current Paramedic certification or licenses as appropriate and as outlined by the NJ State Department of Health.
  • Minimum of associate degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a licensed paramedic is required.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
Competencies and Skills:
  • Demonstrated mastery of subject matter or discipline.
  • Clinical and/or instructional experience in paramedicine.
  • Demonstration of clinical techniques as defined by the paramedic scope of practice.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required.

Terms of Employment:
  • Part-time position, not to exceed 25 hours per week.
  • Flexible schedule to meet department needs.
  • Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off-campus sites as needed by the College.
  • Hours outside of the traditional weekday work schedule may be required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
