About the Job

This position is an exciting opportunity to join the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION team as a Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality mental health services to our patients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health counseling, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to mental health populations, including patients with a history of sexual trauma and combat PTSD.
  • Integrate assessment data in preparing and implementing the plan of care.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Routinely contribute to the development of clinical programs, including policies and procedures.
  • Document in the medical record of assigned patients, in accordance with specific program, medical center, and VA and JCAHO requirements.
  • Attend meetings and activities in the medical center and the community, as required.
  • Provide direct patient care, that is appropriate to the cognitive, emotional and diagnostic needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must be licensed to provide clinical supervision to trainees or unlicensed LPMHCs.
  • Must have at least one year of progressively complex LPMHC experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
  • Must have five years of post-licensed experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment.
