The Virtual Housekeeping Operations Manager oversees the functions of personnel engaged in delivering a range of industrial cleaning services. This role encompasses a wide array of sanitation projects and services essential for upholding the cleanliness, efficiency, and habitability of various commercial and industrial environments, while also managing the operations of a commissary facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute all tasks required of a housekeeper or other designated personnel.
- Delegate, supervise, and mentor all housekeeping and janitorial team members.
- Design and organize work schedules and assignments.
- Authorize staff payroll documents and financial transactions.
- Onboard new employees and provide continuous training for current staff.
- Establish quality benchmarks and operational procedures for team members and assess their performance.
- Assist team members in resolving work-related challenges.
- Provide recognition, guidance, and disciplinary actions to assigned personnel.
- May perform some actual duties of assigned staff and address unusual situations as they arise.
- May involve interviewing and/or hiring housekeeping and janitorial personnel.
- Comply with stringent safety protocols, employing proactive strategies.
- Actively support and guide adherence to established safety programs, policies, and practices.
- Participate in corporate safety initiatives.
- Conduct safety briefings and ensure daily operations align with company and client safety standards.
- Identify, address, or appropriately report workplace safety risks.
- Accountable for HazCom implementation documentation.
- Complete necessary accounting, safety, or administrative documentation and record-keeping.
- Manage assigned supply orders and billing processes.
- Regularly monitor, control, replace, and distribute assigned inventories.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to maintain service quality.
- Oversee associated equipment maintenance and care.
- Manage unit scheduling and various travel requests.
- Independently resolve minor maintenance or client emergencies as they occur or implement long-term solutions.
- May be responsible for managing commissary operations, including cash handling, inventory management, deposits, ordering, and merchandising.
- Notify supervisors if safety and sanitation standards are not upheld.
- This position entails the supervision of staff.
- Additional duties pertinent to the success of the department or unit may also be assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by formal training or equivalent experience.
- At least three (3) years of verifiable management experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or service sectors.
- This experience must reflect a comprehensive understanding of cleaning methodologies and equipment; training and directing staff; and involvement in or advanced knowledge of corporate safety programs.
- A valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record for the past three (3) years to qualify under company vehicle insurance policies.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment contract requirements, which may include but are not limited to: drug testing, physical assessments, and fit-for-duty evaluations.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team with colleagues, customers, and clients.
- Must demonstrate decision-making capabilities with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain on feet for 12 hours per shift as per the scheduled rotation.
- Must be able to reside in dormitory-style accommodations and meet cleanliness standards of the remote facility.
- Contract requires employees to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
- Must adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations established by the company and clients.
Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, with frequent exposure to arctic conditions. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud. Employees must be capable of standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, using hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and potential contact with toxic or caustic chemicals may occur. Travel by plane and/or bus to remote locations is required.
