Adjunct Faculty in Software Development

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Software Development courses at the College of Western Idaho. The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development and be able to effectively communicate complex concepts to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach contracted credit load of courses per the descriptions published in the CWI catalog
  • Utilize outcomes assessment measures to evaluate student learning
  • Participate in instructional evaluation processes to ensure high-quality instruction
  • Meet all scheduled classes promptly and maintain accurate records
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
  • Develop daily lesson plans and teaching aids, using appropriate instructional technology
  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process
  • Assess student outcomes and provide regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students
  • Maintain expertise in subject area and suggest improvements in curriculum design, as needed
  • Participate in Departmental and College meetings as prescribed by supervisor
  • Convey by words and action the values expected by CWI
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience acquired by full-time, successful employment in applicable field
  • Current industry credentials and experience are priority
  • Teaching experience, especially at the community college level, is preferred but not required
  • CWI can develop the successful candidate as an Instructor
  • Must currently have experience in one or more of the following: web design; web application development utilizing front-end/back-end technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, Python, PHP, and/or SQL; web server implementation using Windows and Linux platforms; and Content Management Systems development and implementation, (dependent on courses taught)
  • Treasure Valley candidate with local industry affiliations is preferred

Successful candidates are required to reside in Idaho by the first day of work for the College of Western Idaho.
