Patient Financial Counselor/Surgery Scheduler

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Financial Counselor/Surgery Scheduler to join our team at Omega Hospital LLC. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for 50% Patient Financial Counseling and 50% Surgery Scheduling.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate effectively with patients and insurance companies to resolve financial matters
- Document and report payment information accurately
- Educate patients on payment options and financial assistance programs
- Negotiate and strategize patient payment arrangements
- Update patient accounts and balances
- Review and process patient and insurance company forms
A high school diploma is required, but an associate or bachelor degree from an accredited university is preferred. Medical office experience is a significant asset. Strong customer service skills and effective communication are essential for success in this role.
Surgery Scheduling Responsibilities- Prepare required paperwork for each admission and obtain signatures from patients or their families
- Verify insurance benefits and pre-certify potential admissions
- Collect payments and complete patient financial folders/day sheets accurately
- Respond to referral calls from other hospitals and physician offices
- Communicate with nursing, lab, radiology, surgery, and other departments on patient arrivals
- Enter initial patient information in medical billing software system
- High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
- Previous surgery scheduling experience required
- Experience with patient admissions and verification of insurance coverage
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task
