Role Overview:
The Healthcare Customer Service Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing patient interactions and ensuring a smooth operational flow. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at delivering exceptional service to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Welcome patients and visitors warmly, guiding them to the appropriate resources.
2. Facilitate an efficient registration process, ensuring a positive experience for all patients.
3. Manage incoming calls professionally, directing inquiries to the correct departments and taking accurate messages.
4. Inform patients of any delays in service and assist in maintaining their comfort during wait times.
5. Process payments accurately, providing receipts and reconciling daily transactions.
6. Conduct insurance verifications and update patient accounts accordingly.
7. Schedule appointments in line with departmental protocols, confirming future visits as necessary.
8. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely pre-authorizations and referrals.
9. Address any issues or concerns promptly to the Office Supervisor or Manager.

General Duties:
- Perform clerical tasks such as faxing, photocopying, and filing.
- Adapt to various work schedules and provide coverage for colleagues as needed.
- Follow established procedures during system downtimes.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move objects as necessary.
- Physical mobility to navigate the workplace effectively.
- Dexterity and balance to perform various tasks.

Environmental Considerations:
- Exposure to chemicals and allergens in the workplace.
- Potential for contact with infectious materials.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a customer service role within a healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational abilities and proficiency in multitasking.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and office technology is preferred.
