Job Title: Staff RF Payload Communications Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff RF Payload Communications Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our Aeronautics Systems sector, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating cutting-edge RF communications systems for airborne military applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop RF communications systems for airborne platforms, including integration of airborne communications systems and components.
  • Develop and implement requirements for RF communications systems, including analysis, maturation, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate Line of Sight (LOS) and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) subsystems to meet platform mission objectives.
  • Perform informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 14 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years).
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools, developing/maturing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels.
  • Experience with RF antenna and component design and performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VLF through Ku/Ka bands).
  • Experience designing, configuring, installing, and operating LOS and BLOS communication systems in airborne military applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with performance assessment through link margin and antenna pattern analyses.
  • Ability to design select and characterize RF design to meet mission objectives.
  • Experience with cryptographic implementations.
  • Experience with cosite analysis.
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Effects and Compatibility.
  • Experience with obtaining/maintaining Aviation Communications certifications for airborne platforms.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management.
  • Experience with supplier/subcontract management.
